Dear Roofing Experts,

We have recently moved to back to Mercer County and into our home that we were leasing to renters for a couple years. There does not seem to be any roof damage but it has been at least a few years since the roof has been repaired or even inspected. I know that winter can be harsh on a roof just as intense heat can be harmful over the long haul. What do I need to be aware of that can damage my roof this winter? Thank you in advance for answering my question.

Back Home In Mercer County

Dear Back Home,

There are all kinds of things that can cause roofing problems during the normal course of a winter in Pennsylvania. Snow and ice are two of the biggest culprits that can slowly cause damage through the winter. When snow and ice melt, they can work their way under shingles. When the water refreezes it drive an even bigger wedge between the shingles and leave the roof even more exposed to water damage. If it has been a couple years since your roof has been inspected, it would be a good idea to have it looked at by a professional roofer at Pitzulo Brothers.

Thank you for writing in with your question,

Pitzulo Brothers
